WHAT IS MY TYRE SIZE ?

The tyre size can be read off from the sidewall of your tyres.
It would be a string of numbers looking like 205/55R16.

What Tyre Design Is Better For My Vehicle?

This will depend greatly on your driving style and personal preference. Tyrepac provides a brief write up on each tyre on the website. You may also read up on reviews posted by consumers to get a clearer indication. The general guideline for choosing of tyre patterns are:

Directional design: For wet performance

ADVANTAGES:

Good water dispersal
Good wet weather stability

To Note:

Higher tyre noise (for designs with wide grooves)
Front to rear rotaion only

Symmetrical design: For comfort (quieter ride)

ADVANTAGES:

Usually designed for quieter ride and comfort
Easy rotation

To Note:

For the everyday driver

Asymmetric design: All rounder performance

ADVANTAGES:

Combination of wet performance and comfort
Easy rotation
High speed and cornering stability

To Note:

A little of both

Question

Can I change one tyre only?

Answer:Yes, you can.
However, we do not recommend differing tyre design to be mixed on the same axle. Tyres should always be changed in pairs, to prevent uneven wear or imbalance of tyres.

Where should a pair of new tyres be fitted?

Answer:To the Rear axle. Placing greater traction on the rear axle on wet surfaces is necessary to prevent possible over-steer condition and possible loss of vehicle control, especially during sudden manoeuvres.

Tyre Size

Tyre code, commonly molded onto the sidewall of the tyre, is described by an alphanumerical value. This code specifies the dimensions of the tyre, and some of its key limitations, such as load bearing ability, and maximum speed.

Speed Symbol

Code Category
S 180 km/h ( 112 mph )
T 210 km/h ( 130 mph )
U 210 km/h ( 130 mph )
H 210 km/h ( 130 mph )
V 240 km/h ( 149 mph )
W 300 km/h ( 186 mph )
Y 300 km/h ( 186 mph )
Load Index

Load Index is a number that corresponds to the maximum load in kilograms that a tyre can support when properly inflated. You will also find the maximum load in pounds and in kilograms moulded elsewhere on the tyre sidewall.
